PHOTOS: Rally at Azad Maidan in support of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS

Azad Maidan, formerly known as Bombay Gymkhana Maidan, is the Mumbai equivalent of Tahrir Square in Cairo or Tianmen Square in Beijing. The name Azad means “Liberty” in Persian. Mahatma Gandhi addresses the largest ever political meeting at Azad Maidan in December 1931. The gathering of Dawoodi Bohra mumineen at Azad Maidan therefore holds immense significance and importance as a symbolic statement of resolve, that we believe Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS to be the rightful Dai ul Mutlaq and wish to boldly demonstrate our love and allegiance to the world.

It was a historic and momentous event, which took place during the historic and momentous year of Burhanuddin Moula’s (ra) 100th Milaad.

This event was chronicled in a mithaal shareef released by Vazarat, entitled ‘Barakato Bayaan-e-Fadhlin Kabeer.’ This document of some 40 pages describes the significance of nass, provides examples of nass conferral throughout history, and narrates the peerless virtues of Syedna Mufaddal Mola (tus) which show him to be the rightful recipient of the nass of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (ra).
