Syedna Abdul Muttalib Najmuddin (RA), 14th Dai

Hadiqato Akhbaatil Hudaatil Yemen

Wafaat: 24th Rajab al-Asab 755H/ 13th Aug 1354AD, Zimarmar, Al-Yemen

Reign: 9 years and 6 days.

Syedna Abdul-Muttalib Najmuddin’s reign was notable for the manner in which Maulana safeguarded the D`awat from its enemies. The fear he struck in his enemies was such that the Sultan of San`aa, intending to attack, reversed his decision being forced to make peace instead.

In one account this incident is related; that the regent of San`aa intended to perform Haj and invited Syedna to accompany him. Syedna excused himself due to outstanding commitments and the displeased Sultan made disparaging remarks in Molana’s regard. This defamation of the Da`i-ul-haq resulted in that, upon reaching Mina after Haj, an army from Misr took the Sultan prisoner and returned with him to Misr where he was severely tortured.

It is related that the tradition of ‘jeew ni bakri’ was initiated by Syedna. (A compenstory measure for any failings that might have been made in the ‘aqiqa’ sacrifice – see Busaheba’s Sahifa for details).

Syedna bestowed ‘nas’ upon his brother, Syedna-l-Abbas (RA).
