In continuation of celebration of 100th Milad Mubarak of Aqa Maula TUS and on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June, 2012, Burhani Foundation (India) has successfully completed the first pilot project of Rain Water Harvesting for rural village, Talai Pada, located in Dahanu district of Maharashtra. The villagers at Talai Pada were facing severe water scarcity and they had to walk 3 – 4 kms to fetch water for their daily needs.Burhan8i Foundation India has constructed a ground storage reservoir of 3 lakh litre capacity which will collect the rain water from the collection surface and serve the population of about 350 people and having annual rainfall of about 3,000 ml. The Ground Storage Reservoir will serve them water for about 60 – 90 days during peak summer months. Burhani Foundation India is further targeting to complete 21 such villages in different areas of Thane district in association with the government of Maharashtra.
