With the guidance and leadership of Janab Mehlam bhaisab bin Aliasghar Bhaisab Zainuddin, Anjuman-e-Ezzi and Anjuman-e-Mohammedi joined together to host the first Eid Milan function in Washington, D.C on the 19th of Shawwal. In this 100th salgirah year of our beloved Moula, local and national officials, professional colleagues and friends came together to celebrate Eid with us. The purpose of the function was to provide an opportunity to learn more about the legacy of our beloved Moula, the traditions and culture of our community, and to visit and tour Najmi masjid.
The formal program included: Quran tilawaat and translation, a recitation of Sala Ala Mohammedin by the students of Madrasah Najmiyah, the showing of the Saifee Hospital tribute video on the occasion of the inauguration of Saifee Hospital and keynote remarks by Janab Mehlam Bhaisaheb Zainuddin, Paul Monteiro-Associate Director of Engagement for Arab and Muslim Outreach from the White House, and Farah Pandith-Special Representative for Muslim Communities from the U.S. Department of State. Farah had visited Mumbai previously and has met with members of our community and visited Burhani College. Additional guests in attendance represented the State of Maryland, the Embassy of India, Muslim and other religious organizations, the U.S. Congress and the members of the medical community.
Following the formal program, all of our guests went on smaller group tours of the masjid which also included three featured panel exhibits: The History of the Dawoodi Bohra community in the United States, His Holiness: A Global Ambassador Peace, and Food, Culture and Identity in the Dawoodi Bohra community.
The formal program was followed by lunch. The event was heralded as a success with guests commenting particularly on the hopitality and warmth of the jamaat members. It was a success by the dua mubarak of Maulanal Mannan TUS.
We humbly thank Janab Mehlam Bhaisab bin Aliasghar Bhaisab for his committment and dedication to the success of the Eid Milan program. More importantly, the jamaat of Anjuman-e-Ezzi arz Sajadat us Shukr in Hazrat Imamiyah Nooraniyah and the Hazrat of His Mansoos for his khidmat during Shere Ramdaan. We have all been blessed to learn so much from him through his sabaq, his ibadaat and his example. His hope and ours is that this Eid Milan prorgam be the first of many to follow in the future.
May our beloved Moula and his Mansoos, Syedi Mufaddal Moula, accept our khidmat in this 100th salgirah year and may we continually be blessed with the opportunity to do khidmat.
