In Huzurala’s (tus) waaz mubarak in Misr commemorating the shahadat of Syedna Qutbuddin Shaheed (ra) Molana described how the Dai al-Mutlaq is the ‘hijaab’ of Imam ul Zamaan (the veil) – he is the ‘photograph’ of the Imam. He performs the will of the Imam, a will whose impression is made on the Dai’s heart and then the Dai acts accordingly.

Huzurala (tus) illustrated this spiritual link through a narrative from the time of Imam Aamir (as) in which an illusionist had come to the city and performed some remarkable tricks. In one of them he would cause a thaal to lift into the air. Even one of the Imam’s viziers became convinced the magician had some extra-ordinary powers and eventually arranged an audience in the Imam’s court. Upon seeing the trick Imam Aamir (as) asked the court if they would like to see a genuine miracle and then he gestured towards a print of a lion in a curtain which came to life and devoured the trickster.
Huzurala (tus) likened the role of the Dai to the lion in the curtain saying that when the Imam is in seclusion (purdah) then who is Asadullah (Allah’s Lion)? It is the Dai who responds to the mere gesture of the Imam and carries out his instruction exactly as the Imam decrees.
The waaz featured several mentions of ‘Asadullah’ and references to lions. Speaking of Rasulallah’s (sa) uncle, Molana Hamza (as), Molana said that it has been written in the heavens that he is the Lion of Allah and the Lion of Rasulallah (sa).
Imam Mansour (as) was famously known as ‘Laythul Huruub wa Kashaaful Kuruub’ – Lion of the Battle and Dispeller of Calamity.
An instance was related of when a lion was lying dead in front of the Imam (as) and many people were stroking the magnificent creature. The Imam (as) pointed out to them that were it alive who would dare to stroke it in this way – the power is not in the physical form but in the soul. Molana (tus) also mentioned how there are those that make a considerable show of power but have none!
Molana (tus) narrated the story of the Majuusi who suddenly found himself confronted by a lion in a forest in Iran and called out Ya Husain! to save himself as he had often heard it being said by his Shia neighbours. His call was answered by Imam Husain (as) himself who arrived, he was on horseback and covered in blood yet he called the lion to heel and then sent the animal away. When the Majuusi asked why it was that he was covered in blood Imam Husain (as) replied that he was under siege from his enemies but when he is called for help he answers no matter of time or place. The day that this all took place was Aashura.
Huzurala (tus), amongst other duas prayed for barakat in Mumineen’s health, for our livelihoods and barakat in out tears.
Molana (tus) gave special mention for the Mumineen residents of Fatemi Misr.
May Allah t’aala grant Molana-l-Min’aam (tus) long and healthy life to draw the tears of grief upon Imam Husain (as) until Qiyamat.
