For the past seven years, the Brookings Institution in cooperation with the State of Qatar, has hosted the annual U.S. Islamic World Forum in Doha, Qatar. Leading policy officials, opinion makers, thinkers and activists were invited to join three days of thoughtful and critical discussion on issues of mutual importance. Featured keynote speakers for this year’s forum included Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister for Qatar, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Chairman of U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee and former presidential candidate John Kerry, Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, Special Representative for Muslim Communities Farah Pandith, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat, Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and numerous other dignitaries from the region. In addition, U.S. President Barak Obama delivered a special video message for the forum and named the long anticipated Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Conference, Rashad Hussain, also a participant at the forum.
Janab Mehlum Bhaisaheb Hakimuddin attended the forum as a featured participant for the working group “The Role of Religious Leaders and Religious Communities in Diplomacy,†where he was able to deepen awareness about the many facets of Aqa Moula’s leadership and vision including the construction and building of Saifee Hospital, the importance of the Upliftment Scheme and the widespread emphasis on education.
